IoTecha, Hubject, Lucid, and InCharge to Showcase Plug & Charge at the Vehicle Interoperability Testing Symposium (VOLTS)
May 8, 2023
IoTecha Corp., Hubject, Lucid, and InCharge (with ABB) are pleased to announce that they will be presenting their Plug & Charge-enabled technology at the upcoming VOLTS Symposium, hosted by CharIN North America. The “The Future of Plug & Charge” demonstration will highlight the simplicity of the Plug & Charge user experience on an AC and DC charger. This demonstration showcases how the ISO 15118 standard that governs Plug & Charge provides a seamless and secure foundation that is set to enable future applications such as dynamic smart charging and fleet reporting.
Plug & Charge is a technology that allows for automatic authentication and payment processing
when an EV is plugged into a compatible charging station. This eliminates the need for drivers to
carry RFID cards or use a mobile app to initiate the charging process, making it more convenient
and user-friendly. The ISO 15118 communication protocol delineates a standardized and secure
way for the EV and the charging station to communicate with each other. It further enables a wide
range of use cases beyond charging, including load control and real-time reporting.
This demonstration also highlights the growing importance of this technology in the EV industry and
the leadership of the participating companies in developing innovative solutions to enable Plug &
Charge. Hubject will provide the use of its Plug & Charge services, which include a Public Key
Infrastructure and a productive Plug & Charge ecosystem.
As more companies adopt Plug & Charge, EV charging infrastructure will become more convenient,
efficient, and user-friendly for consumers, ultimately driving wider adoption of EVs and reducing
carbon emissions from transportation.
“We are excited to showcase our EVSE platforms with the Plug and Charge technology at VOLTS”, said Oleg Logvinov, CEO of IoTecha. “By leveraging ISO 15118, a key component of Combined Charging System (CCS), we are able to provide a secure and standardized way for EVs to communicate with charging stations. This technology simplifies the charging process for EV drivers and provides a seamless and efficient charging experience.”
“The Future of Plug and Charge” demonstration will take place at the VOLTS Testing Symposium
on May 10th at 11:00 AM. Members of the media will receive complimentary registration and must
provide media credentials at the registration desk. For more information contact Carina Pombar at
